From a modest grid, John Harper claimed another BRDC Historic Sportscar victory at Snetterton in his well-sorted Cooper Monaco; a week before the high-profile Oulton Park Gold Cup race, not too many drivers could be tempted to East Anglia for a 20-lap contest. Harper’s pace was more than enough to see off the Lister-Jaguar of arch-rival Nick Linney, who found his mighty ‘Knobbly’ consuming its brakes on a very warm afternoon. Bob Gilbert’s Lister-Jaguar was a distant third.

Peter Flood (above in 4.5-litre Bentley) won the main handicap race at the annual Bentley Drivers’ Club meeting at Silverstone. However, little more than a second split Flood from William Medcalf at the flag. Other winners included David Brock-Jest (Lagonda LG45), who took the Pre-War Bentley, Lagonda and Aston Martin Team Challenge event, while Morgan three-wheeler driver Bill Tuer beat Adam Stacy-Marks’s turbo V8 Bentley Special in the Vintage and PVT Scratch race.

Justin Law (Jaguar XJR-10) and Martyn Konig (Porsche 956) shared the spoils as the Group C cars raced at the A1-Ring in ever-changing weather. With fellow front-row man Chris Randall absent from the first race after his Nissan NPT-90 lost an engine in qualifying, Law soon moved ahead of Nigel James (Porsche 962) to claim the first win. However, major gearbox problems forced Law to miss the second race. Nick Randall (Porsche 962) led until spinning on the last lap, which handed victory to Konig.
