Rockingham lands May CART date for 2003

Britain’s ChampCar race at Rockingham will move forward from September to May next year.

The move to the May 3/4 Bank Holiday weekend is a major fillip for the track, whose inaugural ChampCar event nearly didn’t take place last year after a combination of weather and construction problems on the brand-new circuit interrupted practice and delayed the televised race.

“We’ve gained one of the best dates possible on both the CART calendar and the British sporting calendar,” said Rockingham boss David Grace.
