Tony Brooks, who won the 1957 Belgian Grand Prix (run for sports cars) with Aston Martin, is returning to SpaFrancorchamps on October 10-12 to impart his knowledge and memories of the circuit to clients of TRACKtours, a new company providing ‘motor racing history in a tour.’ Details from 01525 840330.

Baron Donhoff, the driving force behind the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, was presented with a magnificent silver model of his vintage Alfa Romeo, created by celebrated craftsman Theo Fennell, by fellow Historic racers on the occasion of the 25th annual event last month.

RAM driver Bob Berridge completed a hat-trick of FIA Cup Thoroughbred Grand Prix Car wins at the Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix meeting, but was expected to drive an ex-Keke Rosberg Williams FWO8B at Brno last weekend.

The sole-surviving ex-works Jaguar MkII racer is being restored for owner Jonathan Suckling to compete in FIA Historic Touring Car events in 1998. Registered 1628 VC, the factory development machine won European Championship rounds at the Nurburgring, Zolder and Zandvoort, and will return in original specification, equipped with D-type camshafts and 6 1/2in wire wheels.

The 1957 Formula 2 CooperClimax which the late George Wicken raced in period has been acquired in the USA (in kit form) by fellow Kentishman David Brown, who is restoring the car and plans to campaign it in Historic events next season.
