Indy GP

I thoroughly enjoyed Andrew Marriott’s article on the Indianapolis 500 (MOTOR SPORT, August 1987), as well as AH’s From the Archives on the various past locations of the US Grand Prix.

In the Detroit Grand Prix report, AH mentioned that many of the Formula One drivers were dissatisfied with the Detroit street circuit — Prost having remarked that there were plenty of better tracks in the US on which to hold a Grand Prix race.

The solution is obvious: hold the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis! Five hundred miles, chaps?
