Golf Links

For several years I’ve enjoyed driving first a MkI and now a Mark II Golf GTi and I can endorse your enthusiastic impressions (MOTOR SPORT, February 1987, p138). However one aspect of GTi ownership puzzles me.

On a recent head count of other GTi drivers spotted, I noticed that the majority (60, of a small sample) were, well, balding — a significantly greater number than owners of other vehicles in this price bracket.

I wonder (firstly) whether any reader can offer an explanation, and (secondly) whether, if I buy a BMW next time, my hair will grow back?
