Forgotten Factory?

While the old and imposing Argyll factory at Alexandria just outside Glasgow continues to decay, Crammond Ltd , the property development company which recently bought its famous 20-acre site, has stated that nothing will be done which might cause conservationists any concern. Argyll Motors built this elaborate headquarters in 1906, and it later became a World War One munitions works and a Royal Navy torpedo factory. It was closed down by Plessey in the early 1970s, and when we last visited it, its magnificent interior was being used by small companies as office-quarters. WB
