THE TWO BENETTON-BMWS of Gerhard Berger and Teo Fabi (above) pull strongly off the line into a lead which they held commandingly until both cars hit problems. Behind comes Alain Prost, the eventual winner whose tally of GP victories is now 24, Keke Rosberg, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna, none of whom finished in the points. (Right) Alan Jones brought his Lola-Ford home in fourth place just ahead of his team mate, Patrick Tambay. They were the first finishes in the championship points for the team.
