As one of your older readers (vintage 1907) I remember seeing, about 1925, in the Brooklands Paddock a small building rented by the late Sir Malcolm Campbell.

In the display window was a Type 37A Bugatti, brand new, GP body, but fitted with headlights and mudguards and a 100 m.p.h. lap guaranteed. Price: £550.

Another car with a guaranteed speed was the “Brooklands” model Austin Seven with pointed tail, outside exhaust, alloy body, staggered seats and a guarantee of 75 m.p.h., tested at Brooklands. It was displayed at the Oxford Street Showrooms of Gordon Enghold. Price: £265. Kingston Hill DOUGLAS HOW
