Letters: The British Grand Prix

display_0957d51541

Sir,

I was really sickened by two letters which appeared in the September issue of MOTOR SPORT. which decried almost everything to do with the British Grand Prix. It was the first motor race I have attended although I have been an ardent fan for years.

On July 16th 1978 I went to Brands Hatch to see the British Grand Prix, not to see how well the authorities performed, how much the prices have risen, or any other such trivia.

I also saw, met and talked with Emerson Fitipaldi, which disproves G. E. Porrett’s theory that one cannot meet the drivers. It strikes me that he was just afraid of crowds.

Let us remind these antiquated motor racing fans (motor racing fans?) that Grand Prix racing has changed, the past is past and the present is here.
