A superb victory in the Italian Grand Prix on September 11th fell to Mario Andretti’s Lotus 78 (top left), the American driver displacing Jody Scheckter’s Wolf, which led in the early stages, before pulling away to a convincing triumph, Into second place, furthering his lead in the World Championship as he did so, came Niki Lauda’s Ferrari 312T2 (above) after a steady and rather unspectacular performance. On the right we show a long shot looking up the Parabolica corner showing Jochen Mass (McLaren M26) leading a group of other cars. Below, Clay Regazzoni’s fifth place Ensign laps British driver Rupert Keegan’s Hesketh 308E. Bottom left, Ronnie Peterson’s Tyrrell P34 gets crossed up on its way to sixth place at Monza.
