Relay Racing

Sir,

Your Editorial last month about the 750 MC Six-Hour Relay race was a timely reminder of this unique event, and quite properly related it to the LCC Relay races run before the war at Brooklands from 1931 to 1937. Perhaps you might also have mentioned that this tradition of inter-marque competition was continued throughout the fifties by the AMOC with their David Brown Relay Race sits each year at Silverstone. In its heyday as full teams contested the event over 200 miles, the winning team being awarded the Challenge Trophy and a cash prize of £100. Twenty years ago this was a not inconsiderable sum to win in Club racing. Meanwhile the Holland Birkett race continues as a fascinating event and the AMOC will be entering a team, as they have done for the past to years or so.
