DUTCH GRAND PRIX

RONNIE PETERSON qualified his March 761 on pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort August 29th and the Swedish driver actually led the race for a few laps in the opening stages. Above he

seen leading John Watson (Penske PC4) and eventual winner James Hunt (McLaren M23) round the hairpin behind the pits which has recently been renamed the Hugenholtzbocht after the circuit’s designer John Hugenholtz. Below, Tom Pryce gets the new Shadow DNB well crossed up on his way to an encouraging fourth place on the car’s first outing.

MARIO ANDRETTI took his John Player Lotus 77 to third place, well in touch with the winner, in the Dutch Grand Prix, but Jochen Mass (right) had a less happy time with the new McLaren M26 and could only finish ninth after a spin. Below, Jacques Laffite’s Gitanes Ligier-Matra slides wide at Tarzan as Jacky Ickx tries to force the Ensign past on the inside. Behind him is Gunnar Nilsson in the other Lotus 77 which eventually spun off the circuit.
