Champagne celebrations for winners Dieter Quester (right) and Toine Hezemans (centre), while second-placed James Hunt looks on after the BMW walkover in the Paul Ricard 6-Hour Race, the penultimate round of the European Touring Car Championship. Hezemans/Quester had plenty to celebrate, the win in a works 3.0 CSL completing the pair’s hat-trick of E.T.C. wins, clinching the Manufacturer’s Championship for BMW and the Drivers’ Championship for Hezemans. Jacky lckx (below right) co-drove Hunt to second place in a brand-new Alpina CSL. Peter and John Hanson took their Broadspeed 2-litre Escort RS to sixth overall and a resounding Division 1 win, Chris Amon shortcutting the works CSL (bottom) during his spectacular 1½-hour dice for the lead with Henri Pescarolo in the Schnitzer CSL. Amon/ Hans-Joachim Stuck finished third, with only 5th gear remaining. The Pescarolo/Bob Wollek car’s crankshaft broke.
