A Fool in the Desert
“A Fool in the Desert,” by Barbara Toy. 180 pp. (John Murray, 50, Albemarle Street, London, W.1. 18s.)
This is Barbara Toy’s sequel to her excellent travel story” A Fool on Wheels.” This time we meet her Land-Rover, now equipped with a closed station-wagon body, on an adventurous journey into Libya where, driving mostly alone, Miss Toy tries to probe the eternal mystery of the desert.
This is a well-written, sincere and thoroughly enjoyable book, difficult to put down.—W. B.
