ITALIAN GRAND PRIX. BRIGHTON SPEED TRIALS. A.M.O.C.

SNETTERTON AND HALF-LITRE CLUB, CRYSTAL PALACE.

Top : TRINTIGNANT IN HIS GORDINI leads Mike Hawthorn’s works Ferrari. as he did many times during the Italian Grand Prix These two changed and re-changed their positions until the Gordini tired and dropped behind.

Bottom : QUARTET.—The four leading cars were driven by two Italians. Ascari and Farina in works Ferraris, and two Argentines. Fangio and Marimon in works Maseratis. As they lapped the slower cars they were often overtaking on either side, and still retaining their close formation. This led to many slow drivers watching the rood behind more than that in front. Farina is seen leading Ascari, Fangio and Marimon onto the cobbles.
