E.R.A.'s TAKE RECORDS.

Although still suffering from teething troubles, which have seriously affected their performances in long-distance races, the E.R.A. racing cars have shown us that they possess acceleration of a very high order. Both the 1,100 c.c. and the 1,500 c.c. models now hold the Mountain Circuit lap records in their respective classes, and

the cars were brought down to Brooklands last month for an attempt on International Class records. The standing kilometre and mile were the objectives, and as usual Raymond Mays drove the 1,500 c.c. car and H. W. Cook the smaller model. The attempt was completely successful. Raymond Mays’ speed was as follows :— Kilometre (s.s.) 8,3.35 m.p.h. (Amilcar 83.09 m.p.h.) Mile (s.s.) … 98.08 m.p.h. (Talbot 92.33 m.p.h.) Cook recorded the following speeds :— Kilometre (s.s.) 79.75 m.p.h. (Amilear 78.33 m.p.h.) Mile (s.s.) 88.91 m.p.h. (M.G. 83.20 m.p.h.)

The E.R.A.’s, by the way, are equipped with Smith’s instruments.
