THE development of the 750 engine has got even further in the last month, when the record-breaking Austin, which had beaten 100 m.p.h. at Brooklands for the first time in the history of the class, was taken to Montlh_ry. The car was handled on this occasion by Mrs. Stewart, and attained the hitherto

unprecedented speed for a 750 c.c. car, of 109 m.p.h. On September 8th short distance records were attempted with the following results. 5 kilometres, 109.13 m.p.h

10 kilometres, 109.05 m.p.h.

5 miles, 109.06 m.p.h. 10 miles, 108.95 m.p.h Not content with these records the car was taken out again on September 17th for the 50 miles and 50 kilometres, when the following new figures were established, making the Austin, at the time of writing, the fastest ” 750 ” in the world
