Intense purposes
Prior to Corsica, Didier Auriol hadn't won a WRC event since Monte-Carlo last year. Despite intense pressure, he finally put that to rights . . . The Tour of Corsica…
THE KLAUSEN HILL CLIMB.
Over a mountainous course about 27 kilometres in length, with no fewer than two hundred bends and corners, Count Masetti put up a very noteworthy performance on his 2-litre super-charged Sunbeam recently. His actual time for the ascent was 17 min. 27 secs., which was not only the fastest run of the day, but beat the previous record for the Klausen Hill Climb by the wide margin of a minute and a half. The entries included most of the prominent makes, and it is interesting to note that the second fastest time was put up by a French machine with an engine capacity of 6-litres or three times that of the Sunbeam.
