lckx clicks, but who's Mr Thin?
Sir,
A couple of the articles in the enjoyable (as always!) October issue brought back some ‘local’ memories.
When Jacky Ickx won his first GP — the very wet French race in 1968 — local magazine AutoNews headed its race report: `Ickx Clicks, Nicks Prix’. I don’t know if this was the invention of editor Allan Dick (still editing, now at the enjoyable Classic Driver). Also, when Peter Gethin raced in the 1974 Tasman Series in a Chevron F5000, one of the local newspaper reports named him as ‘GE Thin’!
