Renault/Red Bull tighten knot
Red Bull Racing and Renault Sport have extended their partnership for a further five years, into the turbo era that commences in 2014.
The deal covers far more than just an engine and KERS supply, as Renault is forging the sort of relationship with Red Bull Technology that it enjoyed with its former works team, now known as Lotus Renault GP, which is now just another customer.
Adrian Newey will have a major impact on the turbo engine package and its associated systems, including KERS, something of an Achilles heel for Red Bull.
Renault says that its other customer teams will also enjoy collaboration benefits. Williams is committed to the French V8 for the next two years, but has yet to confirm if the relationship will continue into the turbo era.
