S Korea and Canada on F1 schedule

A new race in South Korea has joined the 2010 F1 World Championship schedule, which has been boosted to 19 events with the return of Canada.

South Korea had a place on the calendar as long ago as 1998, before the project collapsed. The new track in the South Cholla province, first announced in September 2006, is the work of Hermann Tilke.

The Canadian Grand Prix has been given its traditional June date, but it remains provisional pending negotiations with Bernie Ecclestone. If the race doesn’t happen then Turkey will move from its current slot, a week after Monaco, to June 6.

The British GP has also returned to its traditional mid-July date, having been run in June this year. No venue has been specified.

The season starts in Bahrain, as was the case in 2006, rather than in Melbourne. The other major change is that the European GP in Valencia has been moved back two months from the end of August to the end of June.
