New series for Italian cars
Race organisers Flavien and Vanessa Marcais have announced a new series focusing on pre-74 Italian sports-prototype and GT cars for next year.
The Italian Historic Car Cup will be open to cars from Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati and Osca, and will be managed alongside their successful GT and Sports Car Cup race series. Dates at Silverstone and Monza are already confirmed, including races at the Coppa Inter Europa meeting at Monza in early June, while two rounds in France will be announced shortly to complete the four-event schedule.
“The IHCC has been created following demand from many competitors and teams running the most stunning Italian historic machinery,” said Flavien Marcais. “It will be for sports, sports-prototype and GT cars of a type that raced in the World Endurance Championship and internationally in period.”
Ferrari 512s are expected to be among the front-runners, along with Alfa Romeo T33s. At least three T33s are currently in the hands of UK-based drivers.
