VSCC ladies’ race to mark anniversary

The Vintage Sports Car Club is organising a ladies-only race for its Spring Start meeting at Silverstone in April 2009. Designed to show just how many women compete within the club, the one-off race is among a number of new events planned to mark the club’s 75th anniversary celebrations. The race will be open to pre-war racing and sports cars.

“The aim is to publicise how many women are participating in historic and vintage motor sport, and encourage more to get involved,” said Gillian Carr of the VSCC, a likely entrant in the race. “There are few clubs that could field a grid of very fast ladies.”
