Ton-up Shelsley
A week of activities at Shelsley Walsh in August 2005 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first event at the Worcestershire hillclimb course. The festivities will conclude with an invitation event for key cars and drivers from Shelsley’s history on Sunday August 21.
To mark the ‘100 years to the day’ of the inaugural event in 1905, a Midland AC members’ day will be held on Friday August 12. This will be non-competitive and allow members the chance to drive the hill.
The following week a Classic Tour will start and finish at Shelsley before a three-day hillclimb event begins on Friday August 19. The first two days of this will be given over to rounds of the British and Midland Hillclimb series.
Sunday’s programme is intended to include cars covering much of the hill’s history. The organisers are hoping to attract an Auto Union and a V16 BRM, while a dedicated class for ERAs is planned. A class for British hillclimb champions is also scheduled.
