Kremer versus the Spice boys

GpC/GTP I Dijon I Sept 25-26

Tyre choice was the critical factor in the first race as the Group C/GTP season concluded at Dijon. A brave decision to take slicks despite light rain proved the right choice for Casper Elgaard (Kremer CK6 Porsche 962), but he had to wait until lap 19 before taking the lead on a drying track (below).

Nigel James chose wets on his Spice SE86 and ran away at the start. But as the track dried he got into more and more trouble. Instead Allen Lloyd nursed his wet-tyred Spice SE90C into second as Chris Randall, on inters, gave his Nissan NPT90 its best result to date with third.

A dry race on Sunday opened the way for a cracking three-way dice between Jim Mullen (Spice GTP), Elgaard and David Mercer (Spice SE90). It was Elgaard who came through to complete a double, to the delight of Erwin Kremer, who was in hospital recovering from illness.
