Williams and Fiedler share the spoils

The FORCE season wrapped up at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit with wins for Peter Williams (March 761) and Klaus Fiedler (Tyrrell 007).

Williams was denied a shot at a double win when a lack of power that developed towards the end of the opening race could not be cured for Sunday’s event. Fiedler, meanwhile, led the opening race only to run out of fuel on the final lap.

One of the weekend’s stars was Andrew Wareing in his Williams FW06. Having taken pole position, he had to start the first race from the pit lane after battery failure. He fought through to fourth, then chased Fiedler home in the second race.

F5000 victories went to Ian Giles (Eagle) and Edwin Jowsey (Lola 1400), after Giles went off on Sunday.
