Ignore cover images from 2001: this double video reviews the BTCC’s Super Touring era (1991-2000). when it was the UK’s most exciting race series, and this is conveyed perfectly with great camera work, and consistently gripping on-board footage.

But we saw all that then. Rather than condense a huge number of races into less than two hours, something purporting to be a `story of the BTCC’ should retrospectively explain why things happened — drivers and teams reviewing their highs and lows, manufacturers describing the significance of success or failure in this arena, TOCA’s Alan Gow explaining his evolution of the roles, etc. At worst, there should have been an analytical overview. There is none of this.

So don’t believe the title; it’s merely a compilation of great race action. DM
