Title goes to wire
Challenging one-time GP venue Dijon-Prenois hosted a packed historic weekend in which Fredy Kumschick dominated the final FIA Thoroughbred GP Car Championship round in his Williams FW07C. An emphatic victory left him a point short of John Bladon’s title haul, but after 15 laps the Swiss ace was a minute clear of Christian Glasel’s Brabham, with Steve Hitchins (Lotus 88B) third. Fredy also shared F2 wins with Peter Stobinski’s March 712.
Michael Schryver (Lotus 22) and Denis Welch (Merlyn Mk4) took a Formula Junior win apiece, but the Lurani Trophy went to David Stephenson’s Cooper T56. Completing a fine weekend for Britain were Allen Lloyd’s wins in the Touring and GT races.
