Double-O dear

I was pleased to see your articles on Ken Tyrrell in the October edition. I did however immediately spot an error where you label the overhead shot of Jackie Stewart’s Tyrrell as being 001.

It is almost certainly 003, possibly 002, but definitely not 001. Tyrrell 001 had its roll bar bracing struts going backwards to the cam covers, not forward to the tub as shown in this photo, as did 002, 003 and 004. The cockpit fairing and ‘windscreen’ were also different. This knowledge came to me in my youth via Doug Nye’s excellent book, The Grand Prix Tyrrells, much thumbed and of tremendous use to me in my model building activities.
