ACM CONFIRMS MONACO GRAND PRIX HISTORIQUE FOR 2000

NEWS THAT THE AUTOMOBILE CLUB

de Monaco is to run anothes Grand Prix Historique next year has precipitated a boom in the market for 1.5-litre Formula One cars. A host of competitors are now clamouring to enter the prestige class at the event, last staged to global acclaim back in 1997. The meeting is scheduled to take place just one week before the World Championship race next May, and

will again feature a wide spectrum of cars with genuine Monegasque history, from pre-war machines to screaming 3-litre Formula One cars from the late 1960s.

Gaining an entry may be a triumph in itself; applications are already piling into the Principality and it seems likely that the grids of around 30 cars per races will be oversubscribed. Under the circumstances, the ACM can afford to be selective.
