As an engineer, I found Keith Howard’s Technofile on ‘The Bag Tank’ very interesting. In it you mentioned a few of the more memorable incidents involving fire, but one additional unfortunate one that comes to mind could not be helped by a fuel safety cell.

Henri Toivonen’s death in the Group B Lancia rally car, it seems to me, may have actually been caused by the advanced construction of the car. I have read articles saying that no one could approach the burning car because of the intense heat of the burning composite. Do such materials present an increased fire hazard?
