It was nice to see Averil Scott-Moncrieff driving her Bugatti. She was overtaken following a duel with Rathbone’s Talbot 105, but the latter almost hit a wall after a long skid at the chicane, losing seven places. The best overshoot here was by the Bentley-Royce in the same race.

Nice, too, to we John Vessey racing a V4 Lancia Lambda again, and Mrs Di Threlfall driving so sensibly in her V8 Lancia. Another driver to reappear was A Bianchi, sharing the Giron-Alvin.

The Attenborough Special smoked badly, but only on the overrun.

Nutter’s great Bentley tourer, its hood up, acted as the course-car.

In spite of the persistent rain, pre-war cars outran the post-war racers! WB
