A Reconciliation?

IS reconciliation in sight between the Brooklands Society and Gallaher, over the future of Brooklands? We ask because, although Brian Dinsley, Chairman of the BS, continues to castigate Elmbridge Borough Council for going back on agreements with Gallaher over an offer of 35 acres of preserved track, he stated recently that sufficient of the Members’ banking will remain (when repaired) for short runs by racing cars and motorcycles. This notwithstanding that Gallaher destroyed some 300 yards of the cleared part of the Members’ banking used for driving-tests in recent years. As this BS statement does not refer to the part of the Bylieet banking which it has cleared of debris and over which its Re-Union demonstration runs have been held, one presumes that k is happy with what Gallaher will offer, in this context. The Society, indeed, has confirmed its belief that Elmbridge Borough Council has an outstanding opportunity of developing its unique project of a museum on the Brooklands site. — W.B.
