The RAC British Hillclimb Championship

Martyn Griffiths, pictured above at Prescott in his Pilbeam MP4O-Hart, took the 1979 RAC HilIclimb Championship title by a whisker from March 79B-Hart campaigner Chris Cramer. Griffiths held a healthy points advantage prior to the Prescott event, but a fine victory here by Cramer, below left, followed by another win at Wiscombe, saw the battle go all the way to Doune in Scotland. Griffiths took the Scottish laurels, and with them the prized title. Third overall was Alister Douglas-Osborn, in another Pilbeam, below right.
