With regard to Graham Rogers’ plea for help I feel I may have some to offer. I have owned an XI(150 for the past six years and among the many modifications I have carried out the batteries were the first.

It was very simple. I had a new Exide battery fitted to a 1948 21 Jaguar Saloon I owned. The battery was the heavy duty type fitted to commercial vehicles. On acquiring the XK150 I fitted this battery into the boot. It fitted very well at the back of the boot with a certain amount of insulation, longer cable and two expandable claw hooks.

The battery seems to like it in the boot as it is still the same battery I’m using. Also it seems to help with the roadholding, or maybe it’s the modifications I carried out to the rear suspension, still that’s another story.
