Great news for collectors—Lesney have brought out another ” Model of Yesteryear,” this being No. Y-14, a very fine, much brassed 1911 Maxwell roadster. It is 3.25 in. long (49 : 1) and costs a competitive 5s. Lesney also have an Atkinson grit-spreader on the new Ford D-series chassis, 2.5 in, long (83 : 1), ” Matchbox” No. 70, at 2s, and a” Matchbox Major” M-6 racing-car transporter with transparent roof, 5.125 in. long (54 : 1). which takes two “Matchbox” racing cars, which is just the job as a kid’s Xmas toy, and sells for 7s. 6d.

Corgi’s newest include an enormous Ford Series-H. “Express Service” van with detachable trailer, with tilting cab to show a detailed engine, automatic coupling, four sliding doors, spring suspension and even adjustable mirrors, No. 1137 in Playcraft Toys’ ” Corgi Major ” series, and a 9 ft. 1 in.-wheelbase Land-Rover fitted up for Chipperfield’s Circus, No. 487 in the ” Corgi ” series. Ford should be grateful to Corgi and Lesney for excellent replicas of their latest commercial vehicles—may they buy plenty of them!—W. B.
