THE NINTH R.A.C. INTERNATIONAL RALLY

The R.A.C. Rally, which is rapidly becoming a popular event with Continental drivers as well as British experts, will be held this year from November 21st-26th. As the European Rally Championship will almost certainly be decided by this event a good Continental entry can be expected although the majority of the drivers will be using British navigators. A few changes have been made from last year’s event, including the use of a “Mile Miglia ” type starting ramp under floodlights from Blackpool. Last year no night stop was included in the event but this year there will be a stop at Inverness after twenty-four hours of hard driving. From Inverness the route will cover over a thousand miles of roads in Scotland, many of which have never been used before in an International event.

After returning to Inverness the rally will proceed to the finish at Brands Hatch, calling at Rufforth, Cadwell Park, Mallory Park, Silverstone and several other circuits for various races and driving tests. There will he no navigational problems for Continental drivers and difficult parts of the route will he signposted. The Road Book will he printed in three languages for the benefit of Continental drivers and interpreters will be available along the route.

The final races to finish the event will take place at Brands Hatch on Saturday November 26th and the prize presentation will take place at the Hippodrome Theatre on the same evening.
