Invitation To All Club Members
On the evening of Saturday, November 22nd, the Herts. County Automobile and Aero Club will hold its fourth Nocturne, a test of map-reading, navigation and driving during the hours of darkness.
This event is open to all members of recognised Motor Clubs and no competition licences are required. The event will not be an all-night affair, starting as it does between 6.30 and 7.30 p.m. and finishing at 12.30 a.m. The starting point will be at Panshanger Aerodrome between Hatfield and Hertford.
The control points lie on Ordnance Survey Map, Sheet 147 and the test will be to visit a number of these points in any order but embracing the minimum mileage. Location of the points will be by the National Grid, by compass bearings, by geographical clues, or by combinations of these three methods.
While the organisers consider that the Nocturne is suitable for “unblooded” crews, they do not think that the “experts” will find it exactly elementary.
Regulations have been sent to all clubs known to be interested in such events but in any case, copies may be obtained direct from the Secretary of the Meeting, D. A. Wilcocks, The Cottage. Faircross Way, St. Albans, Herts.
Entries will be limited to 50 cars.
