A MATTER OF OPINION

A MATTER OF OPINION Sir,

Regarding the subject of “real motor ears,” I feel that you have not quite touched the mark in the humble opinion of a few friends and myself.

Surely the original Austin Seven Chummy, ” bull-nose ” Morris-Cowley, Model-T Ford, come under this heading ? None of these are fast or in any way resemble sealed-down Grand Prix ears, but they definitely have plenty of character.

The successors to these, and many other ears, however, seem to lose a great deal of this character, although remaining basically the same. I think this is largely due to appearance, if nothing else.

For example, no one could call the Ruby-type Austin Seven tourer a “real motor car.”

I have recently acquired a nu U.S.A. twin-cylinder three-wheeler, and am much impressed by its roadholding, steering and general performance. Has any reader had any experience in fitting two carburetters (Amal) to this engine ? I am, Yours, etc.,
