“SAMMY ” DAVIS AGAIN.

C ” ASQUE’S Sketch Book” is the latest work of Mr. S. C. H. Davis,

the well known racing driver and author of ” Motor Racing.” It contains about 60 drawings illustrating the amusing (and expensive) things that happen in the course of racing at home and abroad, and will do much to compensate the sporting enthusiast for the end of the season’s events. Definitely a book worth having.

A BROOKLANDS BULLETIN.

ANi,,7 publication, called the Brooklands Aerodrome Magazine, has been started to deal with the various activities of the aerodrome, the aircraft firms, and also a certain amount of track news. Besides these features, the first number contains sundry articles of interest to flying people, also a heightjudging competition from photographs. There is about the whole production an air of authority which one would

expect from the knowledgable staff of Brooklands, and the magazine can be recommended as being closely in touch with flying activity everywhere. It costs 6d. monthly.

FOR THE TECHNICALLY MINDED.

IN order to prepare a car for competition work nowadays it is necessary. either to rely on the finns specialising in such work, or to acquire a clear knowledge of the theory of the engine and to a lesser extent of the other components. “Automobile Engineering,” published in about 30 fortnightly parts at 1/each, provides much of the necessary knowledge, the first number dealing with engine efficiency and fuel technology. A certain amount of algebra is necessary to understand the more abstruse parts, but the conclusions arrived at are clearly set out, and can be utilised without referring to the theory.

ISLE OF MAN CAR RACE DECISION.

THE official bulletin of the R.A.C. regarding the proposed car has now been issued, and two races have been provisionally arranged the International Calendar next year.

The course and regulations are set out in our issue of last month, which a plan also appeared. The are for large and small racing cars, will be held during the second week July. Mr. Cecil Kimber, director of the M.G. Car Company, offered the 12.A.C. a Challenge Trophy the premier award for the large class.

At last the British racing driver got what he wants, a round-the-town road-race without restrictions of or equipment, and we hope it will the support it requires. With decent money, continental drivers will also attracted to the Island, a welcome from the rather insular entry of premier events.
