Busy year for McNish
World Endurance Champion Allan McNish will have a multi-faceted role with Audi in his first season after retiring from the cockpit.
McNish, who called time on his front-line driving career in December, will act as a link between Audi’s LMP1 driving squad and development engineers from Audi Sport. At the same time, he will be involved in liaising with motor sport governing bodies around the world.
Audi Sport boss Wolfgang Ullrich said. “Allan will take care that the thoughts of the drivers go directly to the development people and make sure all their points are taken into account as quickly as possible.”
McNish, 44, will also play a role in driver development and was instrumental in placing new Audi LMP1 squad member Filipe Albuquerque with the Jota Zytek LMP2 team for the European Le Mans Series.
“Part of my job will be to ensure that the car is exactly as the drivers need it, because they are the ones who will be out on the track,” McNish said.
