WTCC wants equivalency
The FIA has promised “total transparency” as it seeks equivalency between diesel and petrol power in the World Touring Car Championship.
A meeting was called ahead of round two of the championship in Mexico in early April to assess the results of the opening races at Curitiba in Brazil. Manufacturers, teams and the FIA were all due to be represented.
Jonathan Ashman, who chairs the so-called ’bureau’ charged with ensuring a level playing field in the series, said: “We need to go through the data from Curitiba and want as many people involved as possible. We want total transparency.” The meeting follows complaints that the turbo-diesel SEAT Leon TDIs, which won both races in Brazil, still have a clear advantage.
