by Michael Bollée & Willem Oosthoek, ISBN 9 782951 364264 published by authors, 72 Euros

The subhead says its all. Bollée and Oosthoek continue to explore Maserati’s nether regions, concentrating here on the last of the Bologna’s firm’s customer sportsracers (not including the 1990s one-make Barchettas, then). So more fabulous-but-not-really-much-cop Italian hardware, and another well researched and illustrated hardback.

With a decent design/technical overview, and race-by-race reports, all credit to the authors for an accessible account of an oft-maligned early-60s period in the marque’s racing history. Also full marks for a raft of fantastic images: we particularly liked the one of Marvin Panch’s 7-litre Ford V8-powered car on fire — the caption complaining about poor door design. And any book that includes a shot of a Bocar Stiletto is all right with us. Good stuff. R H
