The FORCE Classic GP Series is to be renamed as the Grand Prix Masters following a change of organiser.

Cooper T86C racer Ron Maydon has taken over the series for 3-litre F1 cars from the 1966-78 era. Ex-Lola and G-Force executive Christopher Tate has been named series director.

FORCE’S David McLaughlin said: “We will continue to run the Jochen Rindt Historic Formula Two Trophy as well as being retained to assist Ron.”

GP Masters will run on the FORCE dates, starting at Pau in May. Maydon hopes to introduce two races per weekend and staggered starts, with the non-winged cars going first.
