The Williams FW06 of Tony Smith was damaged against the pitwall at Donington Park during testing. Smith was expected to switch to his FW07 for the opening race of the Thoroughbred Grand Prix series at Jarama in April.

In our preview to the European historic season, published in the April issue, an incorrect date was quoted for the Circuit des Ramparts at Angoulême: the event will now run on September 20/21.

The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in Warwickshire will host a Henry Ford Day on May 11 to mark Ford Motor Company’s Centenary celebrations in the UK. Bill Barnett, head of Ford’s rally team in the 1960s and ’70s, will be a guest speaker.

Audi showed its Nuvolari quattro concept study at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Described as a powerful Gran Turismo of the future, the car is named in honour of the great Tazio Nuvolari. In September 1939, at Belgrade, Nuvolari was the final driver to win a grand prix in an Auto Union car.

More than 250 items of automobilia have been entered for H&H Classic Auctions sale at Olympia 2 on May 7. Among them is an original by Gordon Crosby depicting the MG Tigress 18/100 at Brooklands in 1930. It’s expected to sell for more than £20,000.
