Powering Inferno

While reading the January 2001 issue, I came upon a photo on page 32 that looked very familiar to me. I have enclosed a print of Rene Amoux’s blazing Renault — only from a different angle.

There were very few places at Long Beach where a fan without credentials could get clear shots of the cars. The Queens Hairpin had an elevated stand, as it was on an entrance/exit ramp for one of the area highways. I was able to take several good pictures from that spot, but the enclosed photo was one of my favourites.
