VSCC Trial

March 18 saw the VSCC hold its Herefordshire Trial. Dry weather did not mean mud-free climbs, so a good event resulted, with 99 competitors. Herbert’s Hump was a real stopper, the stop-start test on Deans Place difficult and Priggles Wood deceptive. Spectators were deprived of the sight and sound of Roger Collings’ 19-litre Mercedes-Maybach, which he had forsaken for a Lea-Francis. The only retirements were two A7 Specials and a 1920 A-type Vauxhall.
