The late John Thornley of MGs wrote the first book to delve into the technicalities of MG racing and record cars but now there’s a worthwhile sequel,

The Works MGs, by Peter Browning and Mike Allison, was inspired after reading Thomley’s book Maintaining The Breed. The new book not only goes into detail about all the works cars but it takes the account up to 1968. An Appendix describes some MG personnel who worked on these cars, another adds a table of pre-war entries and results, including records, and there are long descriptions of racing specifications.
