GRAND PRIX MODELS of Radlett have announced a model of the Saab 99 Turbo with which Stig Blomqvist won the Mintex Rally, suitably decalled, as the works Clarion Hi Fi sponsored car. Even Stig’s doll he carried as a mascot is included. Large quantities of the 1:43-scale kit have been shipped to Saab in Sweden. It costs £8.95 here. There is also a miniature of the Project GT-40 Ford carefully researched. The his is of the Shelby GT-40 Mid with which Lloyd Ruby and Ken Miles won the Daytona 2,000-kilometre race on its debut in 1965. This kit costs £7.95. Danniro Model kits to the same scale, of the Ferrari 250GTO, first in a new Ferrari series, are available from GP Models for £6.75.

Exciting new model race-track accessories from Scalextric are now available. A new line-up start (C168) has impressive yellow arrows indicating the starting grid, while a chicane straight (C176) has been introduced for use on circuits which already include a short chicane (C174) Allowing only one car to pass at a time, the short chicane already poses a considerable hazard. When the danger is prolonged by the incorporation of the chicane straight, it becomes the sort of f aixrd that requires not only driving skill but also a great deal of foresight. Track borders with distinctive red markings on a white ground to facilitate faster cornering (C196) have also been introduced. They fit around the outside edge of the standard curve sections, adding realism and atmosphere to the Scalextric scene. They come in packs of eight.
