Shuttleworth Collection — A varied Flying Day on May 30th

THE Red Arrows and a powered hang-glider; a Vulcan delta-wing V bomber and the free-fall Skydivers; a historic DC-3 airliner and a pre-war Drone ultra-light; a Messerschmitt Bf109 and a search-and-rescue helicopter demonstration; the Marlboro Acrobatic Team and a Varsity RAF crew trainer; the Russian Yak 11 and the Wallis Autogyro; the Royal Navy’s preserved Seahawk fleet fighter and the only remaining airworthy Avro Anson form part of the varied flying programme starting at 2 p.m. (gates open 10.30 a.m.) at the Shuttleworth Collection on Sunday 30th May. Now add an acrobatic Pitts biplane, a Broussard utility aeroplane used by the French Army, the new Ben Air Sparrowhawk ultra-light single-seater and a selection of famous historic types from the Shuttleworth stable — ranging from the Gladiator to the Boxkite — and the picture gels into this full-scale pageant of the air to be seen at Old Warden Aerodrome off the A1 near Biggleswade, Beds. Normal display prices are being charged, as quoted in MOTOR SPORT last month. — W.B.
